Time, Sequence & Technology: Book Art in the 21st Century
5 - 7 2012 San Francisco, California Hosted by Mills College and a Consortium of Bay Area Educators
The 2012 conference theme of “Time, Sequence & Technology: Book Art in the 21st Century” covers a broad range of concerns in contemporary bookmaking by encompassing both the conceptual and the practical. The conference will feature a multitude of events including a members exhibition, studio demonstrations, vendors fair, round table lunch discussions, tours of Bay Area book art venues, student panel of lightening talks, portfolio review for student members, members showcase, live auction, and panel presentation sessions.
Mills College has offered innovative curriculum in book art since the early 1980's. Today Mills has one of the largest undergraduate programs in the country, as well as the only MFA in Book Art & Creative Writing in the nation. Students receive grounding in the conceptual, theoretical, historical and craft foundations of contemporary artists' bookmaking through classes that combine studio work and scholarly study. |
