Authors Colm Tóibín (The Empty Family) and Belinda McKeon (Solace) come together to discuss their writing.

Belinda McKeon's debut novel Solace (Scribner) was named a Kirkus Outstanding Debut of 2011 and won Irish Book of the Year at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards. McKeon lives between Brooklyn and Ireland and has written for publications including The Paris Review, The Guardian and The Irish Times. As a playwright, she has had work produced in New York and Dublin, and is currently under commission to the Abbey Theater.

Colm Tóibín was born in Ireland in 1955. He is the author of six novels including The Blackwater Lightship, The Master, winner of a Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and Brooklyn, winner of a Costa Book Award. Twice shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, Tóibín lives in Dublin and New York. His most recent book is the story collection The Empty Family.
