The Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy seeks to fill the following professorship from 1 October 2022:
W2 – Professorship in Media Change with a focus on Book Culture and Digital Publications
The professorship researches and teaches at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies on the transformation of the book as a medium and comparable writing and reading media in the digital age. The focus is on the cultural and economic significance of the book in conjunction with other media of social communication as well as innovations in production, design and distribution and change in reception and appropriation (e.g. open access, participatory forms of production, digital literacy) from a communication and media studies perspective. The professorship is responsible for modules in the M.A. Communication and Media Studies and teaches in further programmes at the institute. Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds as well as of the willingness to contribute to the strategic research field “Changed Orders in a Globalized World” at Leipzig University are expected. Furthermore, the professorship is intended to transfer expertise and knowledge to the media and cultural scene in the book city of Leipzig.
The job holder’s rights and obligations are regulated by the Saxon Freedom of Higher Education Act (SächsHSFG) and the Saxon Service Regulations for Higher Education Institutions (DAVOHS). Applicants must meet the requirements of § 58 SächsHSFG. A doctorate and additional scientific achievements in Communication Studies, Media Studies, Book Studies or a similar discipline are required
