Beginning in September of 2023, SHARP News is seeking to fill three roles: Head Reviews Editor; Associate Reviews Editor; and Digital Reviews Editor. Reviews are published on a quarterly basis and cover a broad range of chronological, disciplinary, and thematic subjects relevant to SHARP communities.
- The Head Reviews Editor is responsible for the soliciting, editing, and publication of all book and digital project reviews, including communication with review writers, authors, and publishers. The head reviews editor works closely with the editor in chief as well as the reviews team. The head reviews editor also collaborates with the social media editor and the SHARP News team to recruit contributors and highlight new and developing scholarship and pedagogy in book history and publishing studies across professional and disciplinary categories.
- The Associate Reviews Editor is responsible for maintaining the reviews pipeline and supporting the head reviews editor in communications with publishers and authors. The associate reviews editor may also work on preparing reviews for online publication, including liaising with authors for revisions and copyediting.
- The Digital Reviews Editor is responsible for soliciting, editing, and publication of digital project and e-exhibit reviews, including communication with review writers, project developers, and libraries. The digital reviews editor works closely with the head reviews editor to maintain and schedule the pipeline of reviews for publication and to build a bench of potential reviewers and projects for review. The digital reviews editor will have room to reconceptualize what kinds of projects, social media, or digital publications may be suitable for review and to determine best practices for writing reviews of online work.
Applicants are asked to please share a one-to-two-page letter of interest and a brief (no more than five-page) curriculum vitae.
